Mrs. Mary Williamson distinguished herself by exceptional service to the United States Air Force as the spouse to the Command Chief of United States Air Forces in Europe from 28 October 2010 to 27 September 2012. Her dedication and devotion to her marriage and family through extended periods of duty and official travel directly contributed to her husband's successful execution of duties of significant national importance and critical importance to the NATO Alliance. During this time she volunteered her time and talents supporting Airmen and their families across ten wings, two numbered air forces, and a major command. Mary labored tirelessly to reinvigorate the role of the command's senior enlisted spouse, a position which had been vacant in previous years. Her dedication and patriotism directly led to a resurgence in enlisted spouse participation across the command. She spearheaded an effort to include spouses in the command's Chief Orientation Program, an Air Force first, and took the lead in developing a spouses' itinerary that was not only educational but highlighted their role as key members of the leadership team.
Her efforts garnered rave reviews and the spouses program has been benchmarked by several other commands. A gifted communicator, Mrs. Williamson created a popular United States Air Forces in Europe Command Chief's Spouses Facebook page to keep the command connected on current and upcoming events. Her daily commitment and personal touch has compiled numerous contacts of all ranks from across the command.
She actively pushed Key Spouse training to ensure units maintained contact with assigned families as a way of strengthening Air Force communities in Europe. Mrs. Williamson's impact as a leader, mentor, and ambassador for the Air Force is immeasurable. Her loyal service set the highest standard and had a direct positive impact on every member of this major command. Her contributions reflect great credit upon herself, her family, and the United States Air Force.
