Grace Jarrett Class of 1989
My brother and I attended AES from 1986-1989. We graduated in 1989.
When my father got the transfer to New Delhi, believe me, I was not thrilled. I couldn't imagine leaving Japan to go live in India. Fortunately for me, New Delhi ended being one of the most enjoyable times in my life.
While attending AES, I was able to make lifelong friendships, and see life multi-culturally. One of my closest and dearest friends to this day Kim Umemoto, and I keep in touch daily; we were actually in each other's wedding.
Delhi was fun times for us, we partied at the Gungaroo, had crazy house parties, went on exotic mini field trips, had great sport conventions with other schools in Pakistan, and let's not forget our awesome teachers, (Mr. & Mrs. Thompson , Dr. E and so many more). AES gave me some of the best of times.
I got married a year ago to William - yes, we have the same name as the TV show titled "Will and Grace" (!!) - and we relocated to the MD/DC area. Believe me, after living in the awesome New York City for the past twelve years it has truly been a cultural shock. I haven't been to India since we left, but the memories are still strong and I couldn't have asked for more. I still roam the world on a regular basis, and maybe Delhi and I will cross paths again.
