Deb Heggie, Class of 1974
May 1, 2007
My family lived in New Delhi in 1967 and 1968 (5th and 6th grades) following stays in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. We returned to the SF Bay Area and remained there since my father left the Asia Foundation for the World Affairs Council.
I graduated from UC Davis and then attended graduate school in Southern California where I met my husband. I obtained a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1986 and moved to Connecticut right after graduation. I worked in a variety of settings there including a residential treatment home, community mental health center, psychiatric facility and a private practice. I took a position in Maryland ten years ago with a healthcare company and now live between Baltimore and Washington D.C. with my husband, Ed; daughters Sarah and Emily, and our two dogs.
Sarah leaves for UVA and Emily begins high school in the fall. My parents are still alive and live in the San Francisco area as do my two older sisters, Jen (class of 72) and Karen (class of 68). I am very excited about the upcoming Class of 1974 Reunion in Philadelphia and already see very familiar names on the attendee list. It is great to see the recent pictures because many of them were taken while I was in New Delhi. They bring back wonderful memories.
