Colleen Townsley Brinkmann AIS class of 1971 colleen_brinkmann@hotmail.com
Colleen Townsley Brinkmann with her husband Barney in India. |
I've barely dusted off the Delhi dust accumulated last month during a two-week visit with husband Barney and two of our three kids (Rob, 27, who lives in Sapporo, Japan, and Jessica, 24, who lives in Austin, Tx).
While we didn't get to see AIS, we did have a wonderful reunion with our sweeper and his family (who we love as family), relatives and friends. In the past four years we've been back to India three times. Delhi is all torn up for the Commonwealth Games this October.
Barney and I live in Dallas where we're empty nesters. Dylan, 24, rounds out our family; he's in the midst of moving to Dallas this summer to continue with college. I'm in my 9th year with the North Texas Food Bank, serving as Chief Philanthropy Officer (www.ntfb.org) and still love to speak on India whenever invites come my way. Barney is in his 31st year with AT&T, a certified Deadhead! When we're not working we dive in local watering holes and faraway spots, as well.
Carol Rizzie York and I are the two local AIS-ers and we enjoy getting together!
What memories I have of AIS from grades 1 thru 12: Mrs. Rahman, my art teacher, was fabulous, as well as so many others - Mrs. Garg, Mr. Malhotra, Dr. Perelli. We live in downtown Dallas in a loft...the welcome mat is out for any AIS-ers!
My motto - Live life in neon! Dhanyvad!
