Cathy Chance AIS class of 1972 drcathyc@verizon.net
Cathy attended AIS during part of the 8th – middle of 11th grade. I graduated high school in Stamford, CT, then went, briefly to McGill and got married in December 1972 - a marriage which lasted about 2 years. I finally went back to school at the University of Connecticut, but in my senior year, moved to Florida (again for a guy!). I got my bachelor's and master's degree at Florida Atlantic University, in psychology and went on to Auburn University for my doctorate. As part of the requirement for my doctorate, I had to do an internship, so I ended up joining the US Air Force. Served 4 years. Was finally awarded my Ph.D. in 1989. Got married in December 1998 to a Navy officer. Again it didn't work. I ended up in California. So, at this point: I am not married, have no kids (by choice) unless you count my dog and three cats (which they do!). I am in private practice as a clinical psychologist. I am also working on my first science fiction novel. I am truly enjoying it, but it is SO much work. Just try designing an entire galaxy. I spend hours researching various topics on the Net so that my story is grounded in science fact.
My hair is now (as opposed to when I was in high school) waist length! So, I'm a late blooming hippie! I've performed on my harp (Irish) at Renaissance Faires for a number of years. I can fly an airplane, though I haven't in a number of years. I've sailed in the Bahamas. I don't have any recent photos, but I've included one from when I was in the Air Force in the late '80s and got a ride in an F-15 (was able to actually log some 'stick time' in my pilot's log). The other is from about 10 years ago at a Renaissance Faire. I made that costume, by the way, complete with silver embroidery and pearls. If you could see it in person, you might be able to see the blood from my pricked fingers! My brother, David (he always used his middle name), is married and living in Las Vegas. He does computerized lighting for major shows around the country and world.” Check out Cathy’s Web site at: http://www.psychadvisor.com.
