Seeing that there are so few posts from the class of 1975 I thought I should write to show that we are, indeed, alive! - and…, Sunaina has really been hounding me.

Since graduating from AIS in '75 I have met and kept up with many AIS/AES'ers over the years, too many to name - fact is, we've always been (especially initially), a lost flock, and as the saying goes - birds of feather stick together! I left India and came to the US in 1976 to ostensibly go to school - which I did attempt on and off for many years. I did finally finish and got an environmental engineering degree (for those who may know, this would give an indication of how long it took me to finish since this degree was not offered back in 'our day'). I have since married a beautiful girl, Indu, who some may have met at the 2001 reunion. We have two children, Niharika (she prefers Nikki), 21, and Nathan, 11. A snap of the family accompanies (Dec 2006). We live in the Washington DC area (Fairfax) and both Indu and I are now in the federal work force; I'm a civilian with the US Army (!?) and Indu is with the USDA. I'm working with the Army's environmental programs trying to ensure we keep our mess to a minimum.

There is no question that my initial transition here was very difficult (as it seems to have been for many for us; at least in the pre e-mail, cell phone, instant message era) - I have now, however, found my equilibrium and am very happy in suburban bliss with a loving family and good friends. Many of you may remember my brothers and sister; Vikram '72, Joan '73, and David '76. Vikram and David are both in Williamsport, PA and doing well - David's kept busy with four fully active boys, Vik has maintained a keen interest in spelunking and is now 'a grandmaster' showing local grottos the inner-workings of holes in the ground; Joan is in Rockville, MD working with Verizon Phone and keeps busy with all her four-legged kids. My mother, Margaret Garg, at the school from ('62 - '89 [I think]) passed on in Jan. '06; many of you sent condolences and memories - these meant a great deal to us and we thank you all. The School and its students are what she lived for. Thank you.

I have been going to India fairly often over the years as Indu's family is all there. Recently, we've been over much more often since all the next generation is getting married and it would be very bad form to miss these special occasions (apparently time & money is no excuse). I was last in Delhi Nov-Dec '07 and, although did not get to the school, I did meet up with Sunaina Suneja ('75), Sunil Mahajan ('74), & Deepak Sen ('74). I also met Indrek Roy and his parents - younger brother and parents of Alok ('75) and Rupak ('73). This last trip was particularly hectic with all the family and marriage functions (2 marriages) - I was planning on slipping in and out - but, while with my brother-in-law fooling around near Hauz Kaus Tombs I heard my name shouted out; "Malcolm", it was Sunaina! - I felt like I'd been caught with my pants down! It was great seeing her and meeting Sunil and Deepak. I've learned my lesson and will stand firm - my 'family' is the AIS/AES family and I'll be sure to always make time in the future.

Hopefully this note will start the ball rolling for other '75ers to write in and tell us of all the great ways we've changed the world - change? What about acceptance, eternal time, quelling desires - yes, this is our mantra - keep a low profile.

OK, enough of this - beginning to ramble. I'm also sending in a copy of the 1966-67 elementary yearbook, Namaste, this was the start of what was to be a yearly publication but I believe was the only elementary yearbook published. Susan Schaefer ('75) showed me the yearbook and a friend scanned it.

Thanks for reading - If any one is ever in the Fairfax, Va area, give a call. Although I've seen and kept up with many over the years I'd love to hear from old classmates.

Malcolm Garg ('63 - '75) [that's 1st -12th; the first along with Sunaina and Sanjay Gupta for this significant honor]

BTW, I am hoping to make it to the Reno Reunion and am hoping to drum up some interest.
